#MeronAko

With the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), CHSI designed and implemented #MeronAko for the Department of Education. #MeronAko is a package of teaching and learning tools both for teachers and students about menstrual hygiene and puberty. CHSI trained schoolteachers how to effectively teach important skills on managing menstrual periods and dealing with stigma, fear, and discomfort. CHSI produced animated videos that teachers can use along with their lesson plans.

Since 2018, CHSI has trained most teachers in Region 8. DepEd has adopted #MeronAko as part of its health initiatives not just for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) but also as part of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) program.
